I really like this 1956 book cover by Edward Ardizzone. The limited palette gives it a restrained, sophisticated quality that would have been missing had he used more colors.
Another thing I admire about Edward Ardizzone is the fact that he hand-lettered the text on the book covers that he illustrated. I think that the slight imperfections in the illustrated type on Tim All Alone make it feel more friendly and inviting.
I just joined Colour Lovers so that I can start keeping track of color palettes that I like. If you're a member too, let's be friends! By the way, I got this handy color palette template from Pugly Pixel!
